MacBook Pro (13-inch, M2 Chip)

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 Chip, released on June 24, 2022, was an incremental update that utilized the existing physical chassis of its M1 predecessor while incorporating the next generation of Apple's custom silicon. This model delivered improved performance and efficiency but retained the controversial Touch Bar and limited port selection.

Key Features and Connectivity

Apple M2 Chip: The M2 chip offered a performance boost over the M1, with an 18 percent faster CPU and up to a 35 percent faster GPU, enabling better performance for pro workflows and graphic-intensive tasks.

Design: This model maintained the classic MacBook Pro design introduced in 2016, complete with thick bezels, the Touch Bar, and two Thunderbolt ports.

RAM Upgrade: A new configuration option was introduced, allowing users to upgrade the Unified Memory to 24 GB for the first time in this form factor.

Ports: Connectivity remained minimal, limited to two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports (USB-C connector) which supported charging, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt 3, and USB 4. It included a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Keyboard: It featured the "Magic Keyboard" with a scissor mechanism, an integrated Touch ID sensor, and the Touch Bar was still present, making this one of the last MacBook models to include it.

Battery Life: Apple continued to highlight excellent battery efficiency, claiming up to 17 hours of wireless web use and up to 20 hours of video playback.
